Grey Tide (Dev Demo)
A downloadable game for Windows
Grey Tide is a top down, 2D shooter based on warships of the second world war with some roguelite elements.
- 13 different ships represented with 9 being playable from the get-go and the remaining 3 unlockable, with many more ships to come in the future. (You can instantly unlock them though. This is just for testing purposes)
- Defeat 15 waves of enemy ships, culminating in a final boss.
- 3 different Doctrines to choose from with additional specialisation options as you progress, allowing many different builds.
Controls:
W/S - Speed up/down
A/D - Rudder left/right (hold)
Left Mouse - Fire Salvo
Right Mouse - Fire Single Turret
X - Swap current shell type
R - Display gun ranges
Shift - Camera lock (hold)
Ctrl - Aim lock (hold)
Alt - Camera & Aim lock (hold)
This is still very much a work in progress, and I need more feedback to make this game as fun as I can. Please understand that many assets are not added yet, particularly in the UI.
Below are some of my plans in future development.
- Torpedoes and Destroyers
- Option between different cooldown abilities
- Expanded Doctrine system (new playstyles and builds, new mechanics)
- Allied ships
- More mission/wave types
- Aircraft and AA defences
- Basic island/map generation
- Swap installed turrets on a hull to create your ideal ship, or cursed abominations
Note: as this is still early development much is subject to change.
Sound effects created by Houndrave and edited by myself. All other assets are either Unity default assets or created by myself.
Feel free to join my Discord server or leave a comment to give feedback! I'll also be occasionally sharing experimental builds and creating polls on my discord.

Tried a couple of ships and the differences actually feel meaningful. Waves get pretty intense near the end, surprised me in a good way
Thank you, it's good to hear people enjoying the game! Feel free to leave any criticisms you might have, it's the only way I can improve it.
